Kendal Holiday Update
Taking into account the concerns raised following the Eastbourne holiday regarding the length of travel between attractions we, along with Daish’s coach drivers, have reviewed the timings for each day. In addition, there was some concern about access for a coach, to Sizergh which led us to reconfigure the trips.
So, the itinerary will now be as shown below.
Sunday May 19th – we travel to the County Hotel in Kendal, where there will be free time to explore this historic market town.
Monday 20th – we have three events:
First we travel to the Lakeland Motor Museum, where exhibits include replicas of Donald Campbell’s Bluebird and many other of his world speed record breaking boats and cars.
We follow this with a steam railway journey from Haverthwaite Station to Lakeside.
From there, we will board a Ferry from Lakeside across Lake Windermere to Bowness
There will be free time in Bowness before returning by coach to the hotel.
Tuesday 21st – we visit two attractions
First we travel to the Wordsworth Museum and Dove Cottage, Grasmere, where there will be a guided tour of the poet’s family home.
We then go to Hawkshead where there will be free time before taking mini buses to Beatrix Potter’s Hill Top Farm, where we be able to tour the house before returning to the hotel from Hawkshead.
Wednesday 22nd – two more attractions
First to the Windermere Jetty Museum where, after tea and coffee, we will join the Conservation Conversation with Museum Volunteers and can explore the exhibits on display.
We will then have a sandwich lunch before travelling on to Blackwell House – an Arts and Craft property overlooking Lake Windermere. There we will be split into two groups for a guided tour of the house, before returning to the hotel.
Thursday 23rd – An additional visit
A two hour visit to Dunham Massey NT on the way home
