Broadhill Revisited - 4 m - Thursday 18th May

Rhododendron bushes by Mat Fascione

This event is now closed

This is another chance to enjoy one of Gnosall’s best kept secrets – A walk round Broadhill. Hopefully we will be able to see the rhododendrons and azaleas at their very best while enjoying views across the Staffordshire/Shropshire boarder.
Starting at the Boat Inn car park, where lunch orders can be placed, we will cross Plave Lane bridge to drop down onto the canal tow path to join the old railway line (now called “The Way for the Millennium”). After taking coffee at the Crows Nest picnic site and stopping for a photo shoot, we will branch off to the left, to follow paths around Broadhill’s windmill (now named the Coffee Pot). The route back, across fields, over a few stiles and down a flight of steps, to the railway line will be taken unless members of the group need to avoid these obstacles by immediately joining the Way.
Generally flat easy walking on good paths with one gentle ascent. Walking shoes or boots should be worn. Please bring your own coffee if required.
Start: 10.00 am The Boat Inn car park. Toilets will be available. Sat Nav; ST20 0DA
Directions: As you drive through Gnosall on the A518 take the left fork in front of the Royal Oak pub. The Boat Inn is at the end of Wharf Road just before it crosses the Shropshire Union Canal. The entrance to the car park is on the right immediately before the pub.
Lunch: The Boat Inn, Wharf Road, GnosallL, Stafford ST20 ODA. If you wish to join us for lunch please let me know by Tuesday 16th and arrive in plenty of time to book your meal before the 10 o’clock start. Menus can be viewed on the pub’s website.
